Sources of Strength Podcast

Episode #1 – What is Sources of Strength?

On the inaugural episode of the HV Sources of Strength Podcast, our hosts David and Ms. Tonelli introduce the Sources of Strength program and interview Dr. Velderman, the leader of the program at Central High School. We discuss the Sources of Strength wheel, student mental health, and ways to build our strengths.

Sources of Strength is a best practice youth suicide prevention project that harnesses the power of peer social networks to encourage help seeking, change unhealthy norms, and break codes of silence and stigma around mental health. The Sources of Strength Podcast focuses on our resilience and the strengths we all have in our lives. It seeks to spread messages of hope, help, and strength throughout our school and community.

If you, a friend, or a loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis, help is available. Contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-237-TALK (8255) and suicidepreventionlifeline.org or the Crisis Textline by texting HOME to 741741.
