The Suffocated Forest

The Suffocated Forest

The Suffocated Forest is a poem by Hopewell Valley Central High School senior Mia Vaughn & was published in Panorama, the literary arts magazine.

The Suffocated Forest

The sun tunnels under trees.

Suffocated light.

Summer days,

Turned to night.

Sick for a sight

Of the sky.

Hope for the trees to clear.

Hope.

Longed for.

Disappear.

Nothing but a terrifying,

Dark,

Forest.

Slowly

The forest grew

To hate the light

And the air.

Slowly it grew

Pale eyes

And a pale stare.

Slowly

It grew

Black with hate.
