Episode Title: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 101

Episode #2

You are listening to Hyperfixation Nation, the podcast with your host Blake.

In this episode of Hyperfixation Nation the Podcast we discuss: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the side quests/adventures (the ones related to stables), and exploring the depths. In addition to talking about some of the aspects of Zelda, I will be explaining what it was like for me while I am in this hyperfixation.

Segment 1: Introduction to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 101

First, a quick overview of the information being talked about this episode. I will talk about the stable quests – the ones involving Zelda and the newspaper. Next, I will let you know some tips and tricks about exploring the depths. There will be some spoilers but I will say the quest I am covering beforehand so if you do not want to hear a spoiler, you can skip ahead. I have beat the game (meaning completed the main quest all the way and fought the Demon King) so I have more hearts and weapons then I did when I was fighting those bosses but I will give information for people who were around the same place I was when fighting those bosses.

Segment 2: What it was like for me

I wanted to explain a bit about my journey through this hyperfixation because while this podcast will be me talking about all of mine, it is also important to talk about the experience I had while learning all these things.

  • Ups and downs of interests
  • Restarting the game
  • Watching my dad play vs. me playing
  • Researching quests ahead of time

Segment 3: The side adventures (Potencial Princess Sightings)

Ok ok quick overview of this segment before I get into it. I will be talking about the newspaper quests that you get from visiting the Lucky Clover Gazette house in the Hebra region, the great fairy quests, and the quests you get after you have done the Lucky Clove Gazette quests and where to find these places.

  • Potential princess sightings (newspaper quests)
  • Snowfield stable – Zelda’s Golden horse
  • You need to go north towards an Ice Gleeok. Do not fight this unless you want a 3-headed dragon blasting ice at you and a fight of your life. Instead, you can go around the area where the Gleeok is and look for a golden glowing horse. You need to do some soothing when you catch it so be prepared for that. Make sure you crouch and are quite like you would with any other horse. After it is caught, ride it back to the stable and the quest will be done. You get to keep the horse if you want to register it at the stable.
  • Gerudo Canyon Stable – The Blocked Well
  • You have to clear the well right next to the stable and defeat the monsters
  • Highland stable – An Eerie Voice
  • This one scares Penn but there isn’t any monster to fight involved in the quest. You have to wait until night and then go with Penn to the field where the voice is. It will lead you to a well, jump in and talk to the person you see when you get there.
  • Foothill Stable – For our princess!
  • You have to defeat a cave of monsters in just your underwear
  • I did not find this one very difficult but I also did this one later in the game so I had a decent amount of heart containers
  • Outskirt stable – The Beckoning Woman
  • For this one, there is a woman calling out that Penn tells you about and you have to follow her from place to place. She turns into a Yiga so beware. The big thing with defeating Yiga is looking for a reddish-orangish glow for where they are teleporting to and then being there to hit them a couple times
  • Tabantha Bridge Stable – White goats gone missing
  • This quest talks about goats who were fed a meal that Zelda invented and the goats ran away. To find them, look for hylian pine cones and follow the trail to a small place nearby. You can use your Ultrahand ability to make the pinecones glow since they can be hard to spot in the grass.Once you get there a cutscene will trigger and Penn will take care of the rest.
  • Dueling peaks Stable – Princess Zelda Kidnapped?!
  • Penn is more difficult to find for this one. He is all the way at the top of the table, on the nose of the horse/dragon thing with smoke coming out of its nose. After speaking with Penn, you will hear that Yiga has kidnapped Zelda. If you go to the south peak of the dueling peaks, you will see a crater with Zelda trapped in a cage. Once you get close, you will see that she transforms into Yiga Clan peeps and once you fight the Yiga, you have completed the quest.
  • Wetland Stable – The Missing Farm Tools
  • This one involves a little sailing. You will be directed by Penn to talk to someone on the dock near the stable. After doing this, you will sail him down to an island with a flower bed and then try to go forward, triggering a cutscene.
  • Riverside Stable – Gourmets Gone Missing
  • This one involves a little cooking. You talk to Penn and he asks you to talk to someone else. This person is worried because a team of cooks hasn’t arrived yet. If you follow the path in the direction she points you, you will soon see a little camp of people. Interact with them to figure out what you need to do (hint you need raw meat and rice – both can be found nearby to the site)
  • South Akkala Stable – All-clucking Cucco
  • For this quest, you have to do a series of mini challenges for a talking Cucco (essentially a chicken) that is in a tree. This Cucco also turns into Yiga Clan peeps but after you defeat the 3 of them, the quest is finished.
  • New Serene Stable – The Beast and the Princess
  • For this one, I found it by accident actually. There is a piece of forest near the stable with these beasts that supposedly eat luminous stones and poop out gems. Once you talk to the person you find next to a little structure, Penn comes flying in and talks about it with you.
  • Woodland Stable – Serenade to a great fairy (the beginning of the great fairy quests)
  • You have to help Maestro and his violin player get to the great fairy bud (a colorful glowing bud with purple steam coming out of it near the stable) on their wagon. You need enough pony points for a towing harness to complete this quest.

Segment 4: Exploring the gloom covered depths – tips and tricks

  • Barginer statues and poes – Gloom resistant clothes
  • Miners outfit
  • Sundelions
  • Lightroots
  • AMAZING
  • Safe havens
  • Healing spots
  • Zonai devices
  • Climb trees and paragliding
  • Every shrine has a lightroot directly beneath it – you can use this to find lightroots so you can see or to find shrines after you have found a lightroot
  • Fighting gloom wretched enemies
  • Brightbloom seeds
  • Travel medallions and hot springs
  • The importance of pins and stamps underground
  • Falling from chasams directly onto the ground kills you. Don’t do it. Open your paraglider. Learn from my mistakes.
  • Try to go to a chasm with a shrine nearby for as many as possible so you can see around before exploring
  • Yiga
  • Statues and mines
  • Zonaite – every monster you kill drops this in the depths
  • The bosses from the temples appear in certain spots in the depths
  • Farosh, Dinrall, and Naydra (dragons) go into the depths as part of their route
  • Gloom spawn
  • BEWARE
  • IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SHORT WALL NEARBY, LEAVE
  • They can’t climb so shooting arrows (with bomb flowers attached) is the safest way to kill them but after you kill all of the hands at once, phantom gannon appears and you have to fight him. The item drops from them both are really good but unless you are extremely confident in your fighting skills and are not a beginner – do not fight them. Just teleport away. Running isn’t fast enough so you need to either climb or teleport
  • STAMP THE PLACE WHERE YOU RAN INTO THEM FOR FUTURE KNOWLEDGE
  • They can sneak up on you but the music and look of the screen changes – ominous monster music and a purple pink gloom fog-like stuff appears before they snatch you and kill you.

Segment 5: Outro

Now to sum it all up!

  • The newspaper quests are more creative and may seem stupid but are worth it for the money and froggy armor
  • The depths are dangerous but doing things like activating lightroots and building machines to traverse the gloom make it easier
  • Next episode I will talk about the benefits to human health that having a dog around provides you! It will be interesting and if there is anyone who wants a dog but isn’t sure about it or wants to convince their parents, Episode 3 is the episode for you. Also if you absolutely love dogs even if you don’t want one or already have one or just like science, you will enjoy the next episode. I hope to see you there!

I hope you enjoyed the episode, learned something new, and had fun! This is Hyperfixation Nation hosted by Blake, goodbye y’all!
