https://www.familysearch.org/en/blog/1920s-radio-music-america

  • Firstly music in the 20s, around this time, along with music obviously, radios actually started becoming popular, and Radios did much more than just produce sound, along with entertainment it actually helped to gather the nation and became a passing time for many families in the U.S.
  • , the roaring twenties was a time of jazz and the era mainly of the blues, as well as dance bands. T
  • he artist of this era, a very popular name that’s been passed down through generations is.. “Louis Armstrong!”
  • His classic song and personally my favorite, What a wonderful world is a wonderful tune which has been shown in various movies and shows as well
  •  He is definitely an unforgettable musician and will always be “The king of Jazz”. Although maybe not as popular as Mr. Armstrong,
  •  the Charleston Chasers were a pretty popular band that had amazing rhythm and were very catchy as Jazz music was in its prime.

Segment 2:  Fashion.

  • Flapper dresses, elegant clothing to style but also to work and live with.
  • 20s fashion, a very classic style, with women wearing the famous cloche hats that covered the entirety of the forehead were very popular at this time.
  •  They were innovating fashion mainly for women and as I said, comfort and functionality was a big deal.
  • The Victorian era was over, it was time for something new.
  •  Nightclubs and going out called for fun and flashy clothing like simple dresses with fun patterns it

Segment 3: Art

  • Music is a form of art, but now we’re talking about the visual kind.
  • Surrealism, Cubism and Dadism were big in the 20s,

  • His name is still mentioned for all the art he has put out into the world.
  •  One of his abstract pieces. One other famous artist may not be a worldwide name like Picasso but Renee Margritte was outstanding for his Surrealist art paintings and pieces. There’s so much to look at and feel very satisfying and even unsettling.
  • he painted “The son of a Man ” or maybe you recognize it by the standing man with a Green Apple covering his face. Far more unsettling than Margritte,

  • So, Jazz and abstract art honestly goes pretty far back. I hope you had a fun time Processing the past with me.  and Sit tight for the next episode coming soon where we’re jumping on up to the 1930s. Bye!
