Summer Fading, Slowly
Summer Fading, Slowly is a poem by Hopewell Valley Central High School senior Sonya Mykytyn & was published in Panorama, the literary arts magazine.
Summer Fading, Slowly
As the summer fades, the air grows cold
And yet it doesn’t start to snow
But the colors of the leaves are bold.
As you walk down this long forgotten road,
You see the changes leaves undergo
As the summer fades, the air grows cold.
To hide on Hallow’s eve, we’re told,
As the birds and monsters start to crow
But the colors of the leaves are bold
Pumpkins that we tightly hold,
Fruit and flowers no longer grow.
As the summer fades, the air grows cold.
Candy oh-so-quickly sold,
With lights on homes that brightly glow,
But the colors of the leaves are bold.
Their beauty never grows too old,
Along with memories we’ll never know.
As the summer fades, the air grows cold.
But the colors of the leaves are bold.
